No Other Land

The fourth time I saw No Other Land, I was convinced that I spotted Haaretz columnist Gideon Levy in the scene near the end of the film (at 1:18:40) when the “mainstream” Israeli journalists and a video crew travel to visit Harun Abu Aran. Levy is visible only three or four times (for fractions of a second), but not identified.

I was able to capture these screenshots from the film:

Gideon wrote about Masafer Yatta several times. Here are some stories:

To update the news from Masafer Yatta, here is a May 6, 2025 Haaretz article by Hagar Shezaf:

Map of Masafer Yatta

  • Note the two large illegal Jewish settlements of Karmel and Ma’On (shaded) between Umm Al Kheir and At Tuwani. They have been built on stolen land, are fully-developed, and connected to unlimited electric power and water. Not a single one of the communities in Masafer Yatta–nor the abutting Umm Al Kheir—are allowed access to power or water.
  • Basel Adra is from the village of At Tuwani
  • Harun Abu Aran’s house and cave are in Ar Rakeez.
