Haaretz Liveblog

It appears that Haaretz’s Liveblog has been tracking the Gaza War on a daily basis since November 2, 2023 (Day 26 of the Israel – Hamas War). Each entry is a news item—sometimes just a headline, but often followed by reportage—listed in reverse chronological order: the most recent is at the top and the day’s first item is at the bottom.

These links to the daily Live Blog webpages are listed in reverse chronological order, from the most current down to Day 581, May 9, 2025.

Notice!

On September 24, 2026, Haaretz made an Editorial decision to discontinue its Live Updates and daily Blog. We voiced our disappointment and petitioned Haaretz by explaining that the Live Updates and the daily Blog were indispensable for many of its readers  because they contained “granular” detail that either never made it into long-form, published journalism or was often buried within those stories and easily missed by the public.

Haaretz responded:

We appreciate the feedback, and will give thought to the points raised. In any case of a major crisis or a new round of open conflict, the live blog will return.

Our Reaction

A disappointment that Haaretz does not consider the constant attacks, murders and slow-motion genocide in Gaza; the government-sponsored population displacement and settler terrorism on the West Bank; and Israel’s military invasions and occupation of Lebanon and Syria to constitute either a “major crisis” or “open conflict,” and has seemingly reclassified these crimes as “business as usual.”

Haaretz appears to have stopped counting the days of war. Instead of titling its blog “Israel at War Day ###” it is now titled, “Israel-Hamas Cease-fire.”
